Avondale Park Meals Program

Thank you for signing up for our monthly Avondale Park Meal program!  Our neighbors appreciate having this warm, nutritious meal provided by the Overlake community!  Each month, our kitchen prepares a warm meal and volunteers serve this, along with providing a small craft activity to children, and some friendly company to parents for an evening.  Please meet at the Overlake School Campus Center at 6pm in order to help load the meal into a school vehicle.  Typically, the meal consists of a main entrée, a side-salad or dish, a beverage option, and occasionally an added snack or treat.

Schedule:

6pm-Arrive at the campus center to load & travel to Avondale Park.

6:20pm-Arrive at Avondale Park.  Park in the main parking lot (to the left) upon entering their driveway.  The Community Room is located through the glass doors on the right.  There is typically a case worker there to assist if you need it.  All volunteers must sign in to the log in the kitchen.  Unload and set out dinner (plates & napkins/utensils are provided there), and craft area.

6:30pm-7:30pm-Serve dinner to & visit with approximately 20-40 residents

7:30-7:45pm-Clean up & pack up

7:45/:50-Return to Overlake Campus

School Vehicles Use:

You must use a school vehicle to transport any students during this school activity.  The only exception is for students who have their licenses and prefer to travel to/from Avondale Park independently.  Beth Highland will reserve a school mini-bus or the school Yukon SUV to accommodate your group size.  Teachers, be sure your driving records are up-to-date.  The keys will be left in the key cabinet by Bill Neil and should be returned there (along with your completed trip record) at the end of the evening.

Volunteer RSVP:

For homerooms/groups/teams: Please RSVP with your commitment to your team leader.

Please confirm your volunteer group with Beth Highland 1-week prior to your volunteer shift.

Please avoid cancellations, as the families are relying on our being there to provide this meal.  Generally, a minimum of 3 people is ideal/needed to fulfill this volunteer project.
